Looky on a Horse
Alexandra horseback riding. When Alexandra was little, I called her by the name Looky. As a baby, she would look around with immense curiosity and comprehend. In this painting, she is wearing a crown of flowers around her head. It’s as those the flowers have grown from the earth to form a crown. She is on a saddle, but the viewer cannot see the horse. I wanted the painting to be a portrait and yet, at the same time to suggest a horse without the painting of the horse.
